Job summary

Hartford Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, is seeking an SPS Technician Non-Certified trainee to begin a structured training program at our Hartford, CT location. The role covers decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging and case cart assembly under direct supervision for the first 60 days.

Completion leads to eligibility for Sterile Processing Distribution Technician certification and progression to SPS Tech 1.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification from CBSPD or CRCST within 24 months of hire (CT state law).

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging and sterilization.
• Assemble case carts.
• Training under direct supervision for a minimum of 60 days to prepare for SPS Tech certification and promotion.

Job Summary

SPS Technician are not yet certified and will be required to train under the direct supervision of SPS Technician 3 or other assigned trainer for a minimum of 60 days. While training, the SPS Technician Non-Certified will perform duties including decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization and case cart assembly. As required, job skills will be assessed and validated by their trainer and the SPS Site Manager before completion of the training program. This role and completion of the training program will prepare the SPS Tech for obtaining Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification and promotion to SPS Tech 1.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

• Must obtain "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM within 24 months of hire (in accordance with CT state law).
