Job summary

Lactalis USA is seeking a Supervisor/Mozzarella Production in Buffalo, NY to supervise daily production, sanitation, and quality in a fast paced dairy facility. You will oversee staff, ensure compliance with specifications, and drive continuous improvement with cross‑functional teams.

The role requires a dairy or related background and strong attention to detail, communication, and computer skills. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth within a global dairy

Qualifications

• Dairy or related experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work required.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Knowledge of computer software.

Responsibilities

• Analyze daily operations and assess impact on plant performance.
• Use ZD as a manufacturing process control tool and ensure on-time information accuracy.
• Ensure production specs align with standards and minimize fat/protein loss.
• Review regulatory charts, pasteurization, and related charts daily.
• Collaborate with Quality Control and Laboratory on materials, specs, and sanitation.
• Collaborate with Maintenance on equipment and plant maintenance.
• Monitor inventories of milk, cream, starter and other materials with RSPC staff.
• Coordinate sanitation and packaging teams to meet specs and timing.
• Plan and schedule manpower with Mozzarella Production Manager.

Supervisor/Mozzarella Production, Buffalo, NY

Assists and manages the enhancement of both technical and financial performance of the department under the direction of the Mozzarella Production Manager and Assistant Manager. Direct supervision of production, sanitation, production specifications, product quality, ensures food safety and security, administrative management, and training of all personnel. Indirect supervision of milk receiving, milk inventories, and packaging of product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyzes and evaluates information concerning daily operations and how these results positively or negatively affect plant performance.
• Utilizes ZD as a manufacturing process control tool and enforces the on‑time accuracy of the information with staff.
• Ensures that production specifications are in line with company standards and ensures that the loss of fat and protein is minimized (and consistent with the budget). Takes corrective action immediately when necessary.
• Reviews regulatory charts, pasteurization and c.i.p., and production related charts daily. Follows up on corrective actions needed to assure their accuracy.
• Works closely with the Quality Control Manager and Laboratory personnel on a wide variety of areas, including quality of raw materials, product specification, good manufacturing, and sanitation practices.
• Works closely with Maintenance on a variety of issues related to equipment and plant maintenance.
• Works closely with RSPC staff to monitor inventories of milk, cream, starter and all other materials required for production.
• Works closely with Mozzarella Packaging staff to ensure product is provided in spec and on time while working as a team to resolve any issues.
• Coordinates sanitation and housekeeping functions with Plant Sanitarian.
• Assists the Mozzarella Production Manager / Assistant Mozzarella Production Manager with planning and scheduling manpower consistent with production requirements.

Qualifications

• Dairy or other related experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work required.
• Strong communication abilities, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of computer software.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science/Chemistry preferred.
