Job description

Supervisor, Quality Control — Production Operations

Mt Airy - NC

OSG is seeking a detail-driven Quality Control Supervisor to lead quality control on our production floor: guiding the QC team, protecting client quality standards, and keeping every job accurate, compliant, and on time.

In this role you lead the quality control function on your assigned shift: supervising QC personnel (including direct reports in NJ and AZ), ensuring all printed and inserted materials conform to client specifications and OSG quality standards, owning inspection documentation and hold/release decisions, and partnering with production leadership on root-cause and corrective action. If you take pride in catching what others miss and in building a team that does the same, this is your seat.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the QC team. Supervise, schedule, and develop QC Operators, assigning inspection coverage to match production priorities.
  • Own inspection across the run. Oversee inspection of printed and inserted materials throughout production, verifying conformance to client specifications, work orders, and company quality standards.
  • Approve the front end of every job. Direct job setup verification, sample pulls, and first-piece approvals — confirming registration, color, alignment, and content accuracy before runs continue.
  • Make the call on out-of-spec product. Make hold, rework, and release decisions, and escalating defects, discrepancies, and quality risks to production management and production control promptly.
  • Keep records audit-ready. Own the accuracy and audit-readiness of quality records, inspection logs, and documentation in our production systems.
  • Drive corrective action. Lead root-cause and corrective action efforts with operations; track and report defect trends and drive continuous improvement through process adjustments.
  • Develop your people. Train, coach, and evaluate QC team members on inspection methods, documentation standards, and quality procedures.
  • Protect safety and client data. Promote a safety-first culture and ensure the team follows all data security and privacy procedures when handling client materials.
What You Bring
  • Demonstrated leadership ability — you can direct, motivate, and hold a team accountable.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to spot small variances in print, color, registration, and inserted content.
  • Solid understanding of basic math — addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure.
  • Ability to read, interpret and enforce work orders, job tickets and written specifications.
  • Proficiency with computers and production systems for documentation, tracking and reporting; experience with PrintStream, JTS, or similar platform.
  • Sound judgment and clear communication when escalating issues and making hold/release decisions.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • 5+ years of quality control or production experience, including 3 year(s) in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
