Job summary

JTEKT North America in Vonore, TN is seeking a Quality Supervisor to oversee the quality lab and floor operations. You will lead reporting teams, coordinate with manufacturing, production control, quality, and engineering to drive quality and delivery targets.

The role requires hands-on leadership, problem solving, and adherence to safety and environmental policies. The position demands about 5 years of leadership experience in automotive manufacturing and experience with Toyota Production

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide direction to reporting team leaders for all lab function and floor activities
• Cross-functionally coordinate with manufacturing, production control, quality and engineering
• Engage team members for QPR, scrap targets and problem solving
• Support new program launches in transition to manufacturing capability
• Build and sustain communication between shifts and teams
• Maintain positive employee relations and development
• Achieve quality, delivery and cost objectives
• Support safety initiatives and adherence to safety policies
• Provide leadership to team leaders for safety, quality, 5S, warranty reduction and delivery targets
• Ensure compliance to quality, health, safety and environmental procedures
• Work daily overtime and weekends when required
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain privacy of PHI per HIPAA

Summary/Purpose

Provide supervision over both the quality lab and quality floor operations.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

• Supervise and provide direction to reporting team leaders for all lab function and floor activities
• Ability to cross functionally work with manufacturing, production control, quality, and engineering
• Assist in engagement of fellow team members for QPR, scrap targets and problem solving
• Support new program launches in the transition of process development to actual manufacturing capability
• Build and support continuity and communications between shifts
• Maintain positive employee relations and development
• Support achievement of quality, quantity, and cost objectives
• Support ongoing safety initiatives and adherence to safety policies and procedures
• Provide leadership to team leaders for the execution of safety, quality, 5S, warranty reduction and achievement of delivery targets, also support all team leader development initiatives
• Ensure compliance to all quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to establish leadership role and promote team system
• Strong understanding and commitment to HS&E initiatives
• Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems

The above may be waived by the department Director/Manager and the Human Resources Director if the candidate is otherwise qualified.

Education and Experience

. 5 years of leadership experience and previous experience with problem solving, Toyota Production Systems, and work in manufacturing environment in automotive related industry

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Sit with intermittent walking
• Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing
• Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
• Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
• Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week
