Job summary

JTEKT North America Corporation in Vonore, TN is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure part quality across the production processes. The role requires customer/ supplier interaction, root‑cause analysis, and audits of systems or products.

You will support launches, safety, and environmental maintenance, with travel as needed. Minimum 5+ years in manufacturing quality/engineering and a Bachelor's degree in a related field are required; ASQ/Six Sigma certification is preferred.

About the Job – Quality Engineer

Summary/Purpose

Ensure part quality by addressing end user, customer, internal, or supplier concerns.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

• Support activities maintaining the quality of products within the production process.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and all levels of the JTEKT organization.

• Strong statistical and analytical skills.
• Experience in tight‑tolerance machining and assembly manufacturing.
• Experience using gages such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of quality and/or engineering‑related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• ASQ and/or Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

• Sit with intermittent walking.
• Manual dexterity for duties such as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing.
• Communicate in person, by phone, or through VOIP.
• Visually read reports and computer screens.
• Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week.
