Job summary

Leonardo DRS, Inc. in West Plains, MO, is seeking a supervisor to lead a team of quality technicians and inspectors across programs.

You will promote proactive quality improvements and ensure rapid, reliable testing and inspection before shipment. The role emphasizes developing quality plans with manufacturing managers, reviewing inspection plans, and maintaining compliance with customer and internal standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
• ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred; proficient with ISO standards and Six Sigma tools.
• Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of quality technicians and inspectors for a program, commodity, or quality system process.
• Promote innovative use of quality tools and proactive quality improvement techniques.
• Supervise teams of technicians and inspectors independently.
• Assist in managing budget, cost, and schedule input for quality assignments.
• Develop recommendations to improve product uniformity and reliability and reduce field failures.
• Ensure products are inspected and tested prior to shipment.
• Develop and implement methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
• Establish quality control programs to evaluate equipment and testing facilities.
• Direct quality control workers in measuring and testing products and compiling data.
• Prepare quality control reports and respond to proposals and quotes.
• Review and approve quality control and inspection plans.
• Work with Manufacturing Managers to establish quality plans and procedures.
• Develop long-range plans to improve systems and processes and resolve quality issues.
• Investigate customer concerns and ensure corrective actions.
• Support the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
• Attend engineering, customer, or business meetings.
• Supervise teams of technicians and inspectors.
• Participate in special projects and new product development teams.
• Maintain knowledge of trends in quality and process improvement.
• May liaise with customers on product quality issues and visit suppliers when needed.

Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for supervising a team of quality technicians and inspectors for a program, commodity, or quality system process
• Promote innovative use of quality tools, championing proactive quality improvement techniques in lieu of traditional inspection activities
• Responsible for supervising a team of technicians and inspectors independently
• Assist in managing budget, cost, and schedule input for quality assignments
• Develop recommendations for improvements that increase product uniformity and reliability and improves quality characteristics to reduce field failures and issues
• Ensure that products are inspected and tested as required prior to shipment
• Assist in developing and initiate methods and procedures for inspection, testing and evaluation
• Establish quality control programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production and processing equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical facilities
• Direct quality control workers engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating quality and reliability data
• Prepare quality control reports, requirements, etc, in response to request for proposals, quotes, brochures,
• manuals, etc.
• Review quality control program plans and inspection plans submitted for approval
• Work with Facility / Manufacturing Managers in establishing quality plans, procedures, and implementation on the manufacturing floor
• Develop short- and long-range plans to improve the effectiveness of systems and processes while ensuring compliance with customer and internal quality standards, and to identify and resolve systematic and incidental quality problems
• Develop and implement a systematic and effective process to investigate and resolve customer concerns and issues, and to ensure mutually beneficial and collaborative actions to maintain product quality
• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
• Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
• Supervise teams of technicians and inspectors
• Participate in special projects and performs other related work as assigned
• Participate on teams for new product development as directed
• Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of quality and process improvement
• May serve as liaison with customers on items of product quality or reliability
• Visit customers and suppliers when necessary to confer on specific quality issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge
• ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
• Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
• Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
