SUPERVISOR, PRODUCTION (STARLINK KIT PRODUCTION) - NIGHT SHIFT


SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural communities and places where existing services are too expensive or unreliable.


We are looking for a hard-driving and well-rounded leader, capable of taking charge of a broad array of responsibilities. You will be the boots-on-the-ground production area owner, recruiting and training the production team who will operate and maintain the production equipment. You will be responsible for establishing operational standards and shepherding the organization from initial parts into a disciplined production entity. This role requires the capability to rapidly become a subject matter expert on complex, process-intensive production operations, and to operate successfully within a chaotic startup environment while implementing structure and discipline.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Coordinate and lead electronics production associates.
  2. Enforce area standards and run rules, including bi-annual reviews and disciplinary actions.
  3. Interface with area leadership and prioritize work based on production schedules and organizational goals.
  4. Identify and mitigate schedule risks.
  5. Support support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions.
  6. Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications.
  7. Process non-conforming hardware to return it to a conforming state and ensure smooth product flow.
  8. Improve safety and efficiency through regular audits and continuous improvement.
  9. Optimize product flow through the factory.
  10. Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  11. Identify and eliminate defects within the value stream.
  12. Reduce downtime for products and personnel.
  13. Support transitioning products from engineering development to full-rate production.
  14. Review drawings and technical data for manufacturability, providing feedback to engineering/design teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience in manufacturing/testing if no degree; or 2+ years of SpaceX experience in Starlink production.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Lean manufacturing training and experience.
  • Experience monitoring and improving total costs.
  • Knowledge of lean principles, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and FMEA.
  • Experience with PCBA, harness, electro-mechanical assembly, optical components, and prototype development.
  • Experience in fast-paced production environments with flight-quality hardware.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work assignments and fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, ERP, and related software.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Work night shift Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM.
  • Extended hours and weekend work as needed.
  • Travel up to 10% for short and extended trips.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs., stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:


Salary range: $95,000 - $135,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include stock options, bonuses, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k), paid leave, and holidays. Employees accrue paid sick leave as per company policy.
