Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SUPERVISOR, PRODUCTION SCHEDULING (STARSHIP)

At SpaceX, we are building Starship — the most powerful rocket and spacecraft system ever developed. Starship is a fully reusable, two‑stage vehicle designed to carry crew and large payloads to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The Production Scheduling Supervisor role will train and lead build coordinators to maintain build schedules for each vehicle while monitoring overall schedule health.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and maintain production control team schedules, production processes, safety, and area standards at Starbase.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports; write bi‑annual reviews, and manage corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Lead efforts to transition Starship from engineering development to full‑rate production.
  • Provide daily visibility on schedule, part shortages, and resource performance.
  • Prepare work schedules and schedule analysis on critical path and variances, escalation paths, and suggest remediation activities.
  • Provide scheduling expertise to the department, company, and other personnel as required.
  • Work closely with internal customers regarding vehicle movement, shipments, and daily schedule targets.
  • Perform fulfillment activities as needed to support the production floor.
  • Work directly with engineering, supply chain, and resource supervisors and managers to resolve ongoing part shortages, production rate plans, development and new part introduction, coordinate end‑of‑life for products/lines, part kitting processes, and general floor organization events.
  • Drive down near‑term and future schedule risk by conducting work‑center level capacity analysis, identifying model and communication gaps that cause schedule slips, and leading initiatives (reactive and proactive) that mitigate those risks.
  • Lead efforts to uncover root causes and develop permanent resolutions on issues found during vehicle builds to eliminate internal and external blockers to deliver on time.
  • Identify and support improvement opportunities for product yield, quality, safety, cost, and team efficiency.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of professional experience in manufacturing scheduling, planning, or operations in a production environment in lieu of a degree.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ years of manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations.
  • 2+ years of working hands‑on with safety‑critical systems, mechanical assemblies or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with medium to high volume manufacturing or complex vehicle assembly.
  • Professional experience with Microsoft Excel, SQL, and similar scheduling software.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision to develop and maintain program schedules.
  • Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in coding and computer applications (e.g., MS Office Suite, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Python, Confluence, JIRA, Power BI).
  • Strong track record of implementing continuous improvement efforts, ideally using problem‑solving frameworks including lean principles, Six Sigma, or Kaizen concepts.
  • Analytical and organizational skills; able to be diplomatically persuasive or assertive when necessary.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others in a team environment.
  • Skilled at taking in large quantities of information and presenting it in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in integrated master scheduling (IMS) and integrated master plans (IMP).
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high‑paced, challenging work environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and/or weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods—8 hours minimum.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
