Job description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring efficient and safe practices by each member of the production team. Adheres to the plant schedule and ensures that quality standards are properly acknowledged and effectively executed by every member of production.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Analyzes data to determine appropriate corrective action responses for MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), Minor Stops, and establishes root-cause analysis.
  2. Staffs, trains, evaluates, and develops production team members.
  3. Manages line efficiencies, key performance indicators, and production downtime.
  4. Manages labor and operations within the OPEX budget.
  5. Monitors the production process, making periodic checks and adjustments to equipment or practices according to standard operating procedures.
  6. Ensures all equipment is operating safely and in appropriate working order.
  7. Verifies the readiness of the production line at start-up; oversees shift and/or product line changeovers. Adjusts product schedules to meet business needs.
  8. Manages overall packaging and product quality to ensure standards and specifications are achieved.
  9. Practices flexibility with personal scheduling, including occasional weekends during peak season, and shifts on days, nights, and weekends as needed to meet customer demands.
  10. Operates forklifts and other manufacturing equipment on occasion.
  11. Maintains a regular presence on the production floor; oversees the production line and its employees.
  12. Partners with maintenance, quality, warehouse, and logistics departments to achieve KBI goals.
  13. Leads production improvement efforts to increase engagement with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  14. Maintains daily production reports with SAP, including downtime.
  15. Assists in creating weekly production schedules for each crew.
  16. Verifies employees' time weekly for payroll processing.
  17. Works with the Production Manager to identify and implement efficiency and yield improvements.
  18. Provides performance evaluations and development opportunities to direct reports.
  19. Administers coaching and corrective action techniques according to company policy.
  20. Completes the Defective Material Returns (DMR) process to ensure customer credits are processed appropriately.

Job Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Certification preferred.
  2. Minimum of three years of work experience required.
  3. Minimum of two years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in beverage or consumer goods.
  4. Prior experience supervising or managing employees in an operations environment.
  5. Strong leadership, coaching, and development skills; ability to work well with team members.
  6. Understanding of LEAN principles, including Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow Mapping, Measles Mapping, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, TPM, Six-Sigma, and communication tools; preferred.
  7. Knowledge of LEAN tools such as 5S, RCA, 5-Why’s, Fish-Bone Diagram, and Kaizen; preferred.
  8. Familiarity with TPM and Autonomous Maintenance Pillar Tools, including CIL, SOC, RCO, CL, and HTR; preferred.
  9. Experience leading production teams in Six Sigma problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions; preferred.
  10. Understanding of DMAIC problem-solving model; preferred.
  11. Analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of training on LEAN methodologies.
  12. Experience managing operations and labor budgets.
  13. Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP.
  14. Experience operating a forklift preferred; ability to obtain PIT certification required.
