Job summary

  • Coordinate with other supervisors to align schedules and production plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and cGMP standards across operations.
  • Train, motivate, and develop production employees.
  • Review processes for continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Oversee ERP and OEE data entry, reporting, and analysis.
  • Support plant audits and SQF compliance as needed.

Summary

The Supervisor, Production is responsible for supervising employees in a manufacturing and packaging environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements, and enforces policies and procedures, recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions to realize production targets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and safe work environment. Instruct and monitor production employees’ work practices and conformance with cGMP policies.
  • Possess and exhibit initiative to challenge the status quo and courage to implement new and different ideas. Engage the Team to participate in resolving issues utilizing various root cause analysis tools: A3, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, 5W2H.
  • Determine, prioritize, and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the department and assess functions to ensure the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards, and customer specification and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the activities of employees engaged in the manufacturing process ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between work centers and departments.
  • Participate in development of production plans and follow up to ensure that schedules are met and communicate changes or execution issues to all appropriate parties.
  • Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions and communicate same to others to correct or resolve to insure best chance of success.
  • Assure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout all production operations.
  • Train, coordinate, motivate and develop production employees.
  • Perform basic equipment and operational failure analysis and act accordingly.
  • Participate in plant audits to comply with SQF regulations and internal standards of excellence.
  • Consult with quality assurance regarding accept or reject decisions on raw materials and finished goods.
  • Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
  • Responsible for operational KPI’s- Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost
  • Maintain a working knowledge of ERP and OEE systems.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Or 2 years of college and 5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience;
  • or 4-year high school diploma and 7–10 years of progressively responsible related experience
  • Having or obtaining Forklift Certification/license required

Language Skills

  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English. Interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write/query reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization without assistance.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
