Job summary

Linamar Corporation in the United States is seeking a Production Supervisor to coordinate the production department, maximize productivity, and minimize costs while ensuring quality. The role includes training, scheduling, monitoring targets, and maintaining health and safety standards.

You will supervise die casting operations, troubleshoot equipment, lead meetings, and work with HR on employee relations. Prior experience with Buhler machines and Fanuc robots is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman/woman trade certification in related field an asset.

Job description

Production Supervisor
Job Summary

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination and direction of the activities of the production department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality. This position will include training, scheduling, monitoring production targets, maintaining health and safety standards and effectively utilizing plant resources.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, initiate, and direct the activities of employee’s and equipment.
  • Allocating work to employees, setting production targets and communicating precise instructions.
  • Effective employee relations.
  • Respond to employee concerns promptly and work with HR to resolve.
  • Monitor and initiate training activities in their department and all related documentation.
  • Works and ensures that all employees work in a safe manner, in a safe environment.
  • Conduct employee meetings.
  • Complete performance evaluations for their department as required.
  • Perform weekly safety inspections and layered audits.
  • Complete tasks as assigned from Monthly Workplace Inspections.
  • Participate in the corrective action process.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Plan employee’s days, schedule appointments and adjust schedules.
  • Review turnaround times for repairs and installations.
  • Review diverse skills to ensure tasks are assigned to appropriate workers.
  • Change work assignments and schedules to maintain and improve efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Journeyman/woman trade certification in related field an asset.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Minimum of three years of high pressure die casting, machining and/or assembly in AL and MS experience, preferred.
  • Supervision experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Buhler Die Cast machines and/or Fanuc Robots a plus.
  • Possess excellent comprehension skills to read completed inspection forms.
  • Ensure all production, maintenance, repair and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by workers.
  • Demonstrate communication skills to advise managers and supervisors on progress of jobs and obtain instructions and tasks.
  • Possess coaching skills to train employees on equipment procedures, maintenance tasks, troubleshooting faults and root cause analysis.
  • Organize and lead meetings with employees.
  • Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with workers and subcontractors.
  • Work according to company mandates for communication, meetings and projects.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment. Root cause and action plan.
  • Knowledge in basic computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to continuously learn about new technologies, new products and new information within changing industries.
  • Participate in seminars, courses, and other learning opportunities through the organization.
  • Knowledge of applicable employment and safety legislation.
Working Conditions

Foundry Production Environment.
