Job summary

Allison Transmission is seeking a Supervisor for Plant Operations on 2nd/3rd shift in Indianapolis. This role leads a medium-to-large team in plant production, using Lean and TPM to drive metric improvements.

You will oversee safety, quality, cost, and scheduling while coaching and developing hourly staff and ensuring policy compliance. The position requires 0–2 years of supervisory experience (1+ year in manufacturing/logistics) with a preference for 3+ years and union exposure.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 0-2 years’ supervisory experience; 1+ years’ manufacturing/logistics experience.
  • 3+ years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing/logistics (preferred).
  • Experience in a union environment.

Responsibilities

  • Meets production cost, schedules, and quality requirements through established manufacturing processes and methods.
  • Updates daily/monthly metrics via data entry and shopfloor performance boards.
  • Communicates updates regarding people, quality, cost, responsiveness, and safety to management and peers.
  • Conducts daily handover with peer supervisor.
  • Facilitates floor operations and removes barriers to meet objectives.
  • Manages personnel, material, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Responsible for training, performance management, coaching, disciplinary actions, timekeeping/payroll, resource management, and overtime management.
  • Implements and maintains Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Complies with the labor agreement and company policy.

Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance techniques to continually improve the operational metrics of the area.
