With guidance from the Chief Managed Care Officer, the Supervisor, Payer Relations is responsible for staff oversight, payer relationship management, and execution of payer strategies. The role requires expertise in payer operations, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle workflows, along with strong leadership and relationship-building capabilities.
Core functions include:
Managing staff and individual payer-facing projects simultaneously.
Leading escalated payer discussions and executive-level issue resolution.
Monitoring payer performance, policy changes, and operational impacts.
Supporting contract interpretation and alignment with operational workflows.
Driving process improvement across revenue cycle and operational departments.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Healthcare.
6 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
3 or more years of experience specifically in payer relations, managed care, revenue cycle, or healthcare operations.
Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Strong understanding of managed care payers (commercial and governmental) and reimbursement structures.
Must be able to plan, manage and establish expertise in all areas covered by the above responsibilities.
Must have developed delegation skills and be able to present oral and written reports to all management levels.
Medical claims experience, preferably with EPIC.
