Job summary

Geisinger Supervises the operations of Patient Transport staff, resources, and processes to deliver high-level customer service and ensure policy compliance within a clinical setting.

Lead daily transport operations, mentor staff, coordinate schedules, and monitor performance metrics to drive efficiency and quality of patient care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience (Required).
  • Minimum of 1 year managerial/supervisory experience (Required).
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Maintains understanding of patient transport, EHR system, equipment storage and cleaning.
  • Ensures timely response to department and clinical unit requests.
  • Monitors activity and delegates tasks to staff while ensuring proper utilization of resources.
  • Monitors and maintains performance metrics indicating staff performance and resource utilization.
  • Assists in developing new metrics and drives process improvements with leadership.
  • Promotes teamwork, mentors employees, and participates in interdepartmental teams as needed.
  • Participates in employee relations activities and supports interviews, hiring and termination.

Supervises the operations of assigned Patient Transport staff, resource, and processes. Directly accountable for the performance of Patient Transport Services to deliver a high level of customer service. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

Job Duties
  • Supervises the daily operations of Patient Transport Services by observing staff performance and workflow.
  • Verifies that each responsible employee's assignments are being performed thoroughly and effectively.
  • Maintains a current understanding of patient transport, electronic health record system, equipment storage and equipment cleaning.
  • Assures timely and effective response to all department and clinical unit requests and requirements.
  • Monitors and responds to activity and issues. Delegates tasks and responsibilities to staff as needed while assuring proper utilization of human resources.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining performance metrics which accurately indicate the performance of staff and utilization of resources for assigned work areas.
  • Assists in the development of new metrics as appropriate or requested by leadership.
  • Recommends process improvements to leadership, actively works with staff to implement improvements and monitors’ progress. Empowers employees to bring forward their process improvement ideas.
  • Promotes a team environment and open communication within the work area. Acts as a mentor for employees. Participates in interdepartmental teams as needed.
  • Supervises all employee relations activities and actively participates in resolving employee problems and conflicts. Consults with Manager when necessary. Contributes to conducting interviews, hiring and termination of employees in patient transport.
  • Ensure new employee orientation and training are completed for all assigned. Ensure all employee evaluations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for staff payroll. Responsible for creating and maintaining staff schedules, including PTO management.
  • Ensure all shifts are covered, especially during emergencies or staff shortages.
  • Quarterly shadowing of all transport employees to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures along with patient safety/satisfaction.

Education
