Job summary

Mercy is seeking an experienced coordinator to support department managers in daily operations within our Wisconsin health system. You will supervise staff, coordinate activities, and help implement process improvements.

The role requires leadership, independent thinking and strong problem-solving, with a commitment to Mercy values and patient-centered service. Healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years relevant experience required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with software and systems used in the department preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist department managers with day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate and supervise co-workers and activities.
  • Assist managers with departmental process improvements.
  • Coordinate changes across departments.
  • Work closely with Managers to ensure management continuity and consistency.
  • Identify trends, issues and problems and identify possible solutions independently.

Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! Assists department manager(s) with day-to-day operations. Coordinates and supervises co-workers and activities. Assists managers with departmental process improvements. Effectively coordinates changes in the departments. Works closely with Managers to ensure management continuity and consistency. Requires independent thinking, problem-solving abilities and supervisory skills. Requires proactive identification of trends, issues and problems as well as identification of possible solutions. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy Values.

Position Details:
  • Education High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Experience Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with software and systems used in the department preferred.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare field preferred.
Other skills and Knowledge:
  • Experience with software and systems utilized in the department is preferred.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with external and internal customers (written and verbal).
  • Exhibits good judgment and decision making skills.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
