Job summary

Mercy is seeking a supervisor to assist department managers with daily operations in a healthcare setting. The role involves coordinating staff and activities, supporting process improvements, and ensuring continuity with management across departments.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of supervisory experience, familiarity with department software, and strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Mercy emphasizes values-driven care and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience required; Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with software and systems used in the department preferred; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Effective communication with internal and external customers; good judgment and decision making.

Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! Assists department manager(s) with day-to-day operations. Coordinates and supervises co-workers and activities. Assists managers with departmental process improvements. Effectively coordinates changes in the departments. Works closely with Managers to ensure management continuity and consistency. Requires independent thinking, problem-solving abilities and supervisory skills. Requires proactive identification of trends, issues and problems as well as identification of possible solutions. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy Values.

Position Details:
  • Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Experience Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with software and systems used in the department preferred. Previous experience in the healthcare field preferred.
  • Other skills and Knowledge Experience with software and systems utilized in the department is preferred. Communicates effectively and professionally with external and internal customers (written and verbal). Exhibits good judgment and decision making skills.

Transforming the Health of Our Communities

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
