Job summary

UCHealth Eye Center Boulder is seeking a Supervisory Ophthalmic Clinical Support Lead to manage daily staffing, onboarding, coaching, and mentorship within the ophthalmic clinic. This onsite role focuses on coordinating patient care and ensuring smooth operations in a fast-paced setting.

The position is full-time, dayshift, with a pay range of $29.54–$44.31 per hour and requires Ophthalmic Scribe Certification along with COA/COT/COMT or NCLEC, plus at least two years of supervisory experience

Qualifications

  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification required.
  • COA/COT/COMT or NCLEC certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in ophthalmology or related field.
  • 3 years sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training or ophthalmic internship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels, including onboarding, coaching and mentorship programs.
  • Supervises quality measures for ophthalmic clinical work-up and ensures compliance with competencies and protocols.
  • Oversees the Clinical Coordinators' core processes and Ophthalmic Preceptors.
  • Performs staff duties related to ophthalmic clinical work-ups to meet service levels and resolves complex issues.
  • Exhibits critical thinking, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $29.54 - $44.31 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary

Supervises daily staff activities for ophthalmic clinical support team.

Responsibilities
  • Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels including the supervising of onboarding, coaching and mentorship programs. Assist with career conversations and disciplinary actions.
  • Supervises quality measures for ophthalmic clinical work-up and facilitates staff develop programs. Ensures staff compliance with clinical work-up competencies and protocols.
  • Supervises the core-process administered by Clinical Coordinators and oversees the work of the Ophthalmic Preceptors.
  • Performs staff responsibilities related to ophthalmic clinical work-ups to fulfill required service levels. Leads the handling and resolutions of complex issues and complaints.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

  • Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED. 3 years sponsored training on the job, or ophthalmic internship
  • Required Licensure/Certifications: Ophthalmic Scribe Certification, (OSA) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC).
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of supervisory experience. 3 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship. Preferred: 2 years of high intensity customer service experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
