Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Company seeks a production supervisor to oversee the loading, assembly and packing of ammunition components and related production support tasks. You will train operators on SOPs and safety standards, plan shifts to maximize efficiency, supervise hazardous materials handling, and enforce company procedures and labor agreements.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's Degree (AA) preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) preferred.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in a production environment, or equivalent experience as a Production Leader required.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, instructs and monitors operators for SOPs and TDP requirements; oversees handling of hazardous materials and related documentation in accordance with laws and company procedures.
  • Plans and schedules work for maximum utilization of employees and equipment to meet production schedules.
  • Monitors cost within the cost center and seeks to improve cost efficiency; ensures proper use of tools, equipment and materials in the work area.
  • Ensures compliance with bargaining unit contracts and employee relations plans; investigates and addresses incidents and grievances; recommends personnel changes.
  • Enforces safety rules and promotes safe work habits.
  • Oversees maintenance of machines, equipment and facilities within assigned jurisdiction.

Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers required to load, assemble and pack ammunition or any other component thereof and/or other efforts in support of the production of ammunition.

Responsibilities
  • Trains, instructs and monitors operators for compliance to SOPs and TDP requirements. Responsible for training, motivating, directing and supervising employees involved in collecting, transporting, storing, treating, disposing and/or otherwise handling hazardous materials, waste and its related documentation, assuring that such activities are performed in accordance with approved Federal, State, and Company procedures. 20%
  • Plans and schedules work of section for maximum utilization of employees and equipment in meeting production schedules efficiently. Determines job assignments as necessary. 30%
  • Monitors product cost within responsible cost center and strives to improve cost efficiency. Monitors quality of production and ensures the proper use of tools, equipment and materials within his/her designated work area - a subdivision of a production line, or a production line when needed. 20%
  • Complies with bargaining unit contracts and Company Employee Relations Plan and provides prompt attention to all employee grievances. Investigates, reports, and implements corrective action on incidents, accidents and injuries within area of responsibility; recommends hire, termination, promotion, transfer, leave of absence and other personnel changes for employees under his/her direction. 10%
  • Enforces all safety rules, regulations, and company procedures and promotes safe work habits. 10%
  • Analyzes requests and oversees proper maintenance of all machines, equipment and facilities within assigned jurisdiction and possesses a general knowledge of work performed. 10%

  • Working knowledge of computers including entry and retrieval of information.

  • Regularly exercises initiative, discretion and independent judgment in the performance of work duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • Associate's Degree (AA) Preferred

Compensation and Benefits

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $61,200 - $91,800. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
