The Supervisor of Energy Projects develops and manages programs, policies, and initiatives to promote the City of Lawrence’s energy projects.
Works under the supervision of the Director of DPW and the Mayor. Provides functional oversight to contractors, volunteers, and support staff, including the School Recycling Coordinator, and assesses their performance.
Requires driving, working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, and operating office equipment. Occasional evening and weekend work may be needed.
Interacts with co-workers, the public, vendors, attorneys, and other professionals, requiring tact and diplomacy. May provide information to the media.
Position involves potential risks such as chemical burns, heavy lifting, falls, and exposure to diseases. Correct actions are critical to prevent injury, legal issues, and public relations problems.
Requires physical agility, strength, and coordination; ability to lift up to 60 pounds; good vision and color differentiation. Reasonable accommodations are available.
Bachelor’s in Environmental Sciences or related field plus 3 years’ experience; Master’s preferred. Knowledge of sustainability program management, environmental management, and public education is preferred. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
Skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office, data analysis, communication, public speaking, financial management, and organization.
