Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a supervisory-level operations professional for the Morenci copper mining complex. You will coordinate the safe, efficient operation of your assigned unit, supervise staff, and implement production plans aligned with approved schedules.

The role emphasizes safety, performance evaluation, and effective resource management. On-site work with housing options and comprehensive benefits is provided as part of the package.

Qualifications

• Must have supervisory/leadership experience in industrial or mining operations.
• Strong budgeting, planning and resource management skills.
• Knowledge of safety practices and hazard recognition required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate safe, efficient operation of a defined work unit.
• Assign, supervise, and review staff performance.
• Implement production plans per approved schedule.
• Participate in daily operational duties and address issues.
• Inspect work in progress and direct remedial actions as needed.
• Conduct performance evaluations for staff.
• Prepare staffing, material, and equipment estimates for activities.
• Maintain parts/materials inventory and approve purchases.
• Train staff in safety procedures and SDS management.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

• Under general supervision, supervises, coordinates and controls the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit.
• Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff for assigned work unit.
• Implement production plans according to approved schedule.
• May participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult.
• Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and may direct remedial action.
• Conducts performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
• Prepares estimates of the staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected work activities.
• Maintains an inventory of parts and materials. Approves purchases of materials and equipment; maintains time, materials and equipment use reports. Requisitions tools, supplies, materials and equipment.
• Trains staff in safety procedures. Maintains safety data sheets for crews.
• Performs other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School diploma or GED,andfive years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience,OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
• Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectivey, both orally and in writing.

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000 - $127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
