Job summary

Freeport‑McMoRan in Morenci, AZ, is seeking a supervisory operations leader to oversee a dedicated work unit in a demanding mining and processing environment located about 50 miles northeast of Safford.

Under general supervision, you will implement production plans, supervise staff, train for safety, and manage equipment, materials, and scheduling. The role offers on-site housing options and a competitive pay range of $93,000–$127,500 per year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 5 years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one internship experience in mining or industrial environment.
• Additional certifications or licensure may be required.
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School diploma or GED and five (5) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one (1) summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in a mining or industrial environment
• Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
• Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$93,000 - $127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job‑related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
