Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Public Notary Certification preferred.
  • Four years’ experience in medical and/or mental health services preferred.
  • Own transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Medical Services to provide ancillary and administrative support.
  • Lead Medical Assistant training across the agency and coordinate externships with local institutions.
  • Serve as Pharmacy Lead and manage inter-agency pharmacy communications and issues.
  • Support multiple Medical Services staff across provider schedules, notes, documents, and treatment planning.
  • Assist providers with daily psychiatric notes and documentation; report pharmacy concerns to medical leadership.
  • Communicate with regional hospitals and external pharmacy services; triage calls for medical staff.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Medical Services to provide ancillary and administrative support and assistance.
  • Provides key role in Medical Assistant training across agency, including on-site mentoring and externship collaboration with local universities and colleges.
  • Maintains role as Pharmacy Lead and addresses inter-agency and intra-agency pharmacy communications and collaborations, and reports all pharmacy concerns and conflicts to the Director of Medical Services.
  • Provides supports and assistance to multiple Medical Services staff simultaneously across multiple provider sc edules including scheduling, preparation of notes and documents, and treatment team participation.
  • Understands and utilizes specialized knowledge regarding both child and adult prescription practices.
  • Assists medical providers with preparing daily psychiatric notes and documentation.
  • Records and follows directives from medical providers.
  • Communicates and collaborates daily with internal and external pharmacy services as instructed by medical providers.
  • Type's correspondence, memorandums, and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to interact with consumers in individual and group setting to promote efficiency of medical prescribing practices.
  • Handles calls and messages for medical staff and exercises judgment as to the urgency or nature of the calls and directs consumers to the appropriate personnel.
  • Organizes, triages, and files correspondence on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to report and direct questions to medically licensed staff regarding consumer need and associated medication side effects and contradiction prescribing.
  • Opens and dispenses mail.
  • Assists psychiatrist in conducting medication and medication management groups.
  • Communicates with regional agencies and hospitals regarding continuity of care and/or voluntary hospital admissions when clinically indicated and within the guidelines of the referral hospital.
  • Consult with referral sources to coordinate and collaborate on treatment plans as needed, including making referrals to established compliance programs within the agency.
  • Obtains Prior Authorizations and Patient Assistance medications under order from prescribing staff.
  • Coordinates with medical services staff to assist and support referrals within and outside the agency.
  • Provides training and educational materials to individuals related to improved understanding of basic health care needs and issues.
  • Educates clients and their families about the treatment of sever mental illness and emphasizes the importance of medication and therapy compliance.
  • Supervisor all medical assistants for the agency.
  • Maintain timecards, time off request, and annual personnel requirements for medical assistants.
  • P articipates in agency continuing quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
