Job summary

Amick Farms in Maryland is seeking a Production Supervisor to ensure smooth operation of the department, optimize line speeds and rotations, and coordinate staffing with HR. This role requires knowledge of poultry processing, USDA guidelines, HACCP and SSOPs, with responsibilities including training, performance evaluations, and timekeeping in Kronos.

You will work with QA to maintain product quality and lead a large team in a fast-paced plant environment, reinforcing safety and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and train staff on HACCP and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong data collection and production reporting skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish/Creole preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Job description

  • Pay or shift range: $60,000 USD to $80,000 USD
    The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Description


  • Ensure the routine operation of the department/area by evaluating efficiencies, line speeds, placement and rotation of team members

  • Work effectively with USDA and attempt to resolve issues as they arise

  • Coordinate all product quality with QA

  • Participate in pre-operative inspections conducted by QA

  • Train and certify by position new and existing staff regarding Production, USDA, HACCP, and OSHA guidelines as appropriate

  • Work with other interfacing departments to ensure adequate product, service and/or information is provided

  • Work with HR to address and resolve team member issues on hiring, attendance, employment termination, and contractual and disciplinary issues

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues when possible

  • Conduct staff performance evaluations

  • Monitor, adjust and approve timecards daily in Kronos Timekeeper

  • Perform related duties as required


Qualifications:


Requires knowledge of protein manufacturing processes, preferably in poultry industry; including, but not limited to, standard operating procedures, USDA guidelines that govern line processes, HACCP, SSOPs, company policies, Team Member Reference Guide, and union contract, as well as demonstrated communication skills.



  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the machinery and processes used in the plant department

  • Ability to multi-task in an effective manner

  • Ability to collect data, prepare and interpret production reports

  • Ability to communicate with and manage large groups of team members

  • Ability to respond quickly and sensibly to volatile situations or people and take corrective actions

  • Working knowledge of computers, including, but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish/Creole are preferred

  • High school or equivalent

  • Increased noise levels due to machinery

  • Varying range of temperatures

  • Damp and wet environment


Requirements:



  • Good personal hygiene and adherence to local, state, and federal health codes and standards

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Constant focus and concentration required to ensure a quality product is produced as well as to ensure safety of all team members is maintained from potentially hazardous conditions

  • Knowledge of all product wash areas
