Job summary

Amick Farms in Maryland is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee the department's routine operations, evaluate line efficiency, monitor speeds, and coordinate with QA and HR to resolve staffing issues.

You will ensure compliance with USDA, HACCP, and safety guidelines, train staff, and handle timecards in Kronos, plus conduct staff evaluations and coordinate with other departments to maintain product quality and timely service.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of protein manufacturing processes and industry guidelines (USDA, HACCP, SSOPs).
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of plant machinery and processes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee routine operation of the department/area; evaluate efficiencies, line speeds, placement, and rotation of staff.
  • Coordinate with QA to ensure product quality and participate in pre-operative QA inspections.
  • Train and certify staff on Production, USDA, HACCP, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with HR on hiring, attendance, and disciplinary issues; resolve staff-related problems.
  • Monitor, adjust, and approve timecards daily in Kronos Timekeeper.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Job Description


  • Work in the production facility to ensure the routine operation of the department/area by evaluating efficiencies, line speeds, placement, and rotation of team members

  • Work effectively with USDA and attempt to resolve issues as they arise

  • Coordinate all product quality with QA

  • Participate in pre-operative inspections conducted by QA

  • Train and certify by position new and existing staff regarding Production, USDA, HACCP, and OSHA guidelines as appropriate

  • Work with other interfacing departments to ensure adequate product, service, and/or information is provided

  • Work with HR to address and resolve team member issues on hiring, attendance, employment termination, and contractual and disciplinary issues

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues when possible

  • Conduct staff performance evaluations

  • Monitor, adjust, and approve timecards daily in Kronos Timekeeper

  • Perform related duties as required


Qualifications

This position requires knowledge of protein manufacturing processes, preferably in the poultry industry, including, but not limited to, standard operating procedures, USDA guidelines governing line processes, HACCP, SSOPs, company policies, the Team Member Reference Guide, and the union contract, as well as demonstrated communication skills.



  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the machinery and processes used in the plant department

  • Ability to multi-task in an effective manner

  • Ability to collect data, prepare and interpret production reports

  • Ability to communicate with and manage large groups of team members

  • Ability to respond quickly and sensibly to volatile situations or people and take corrective actions

  • Working knowledge of computers, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong communication skills

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are a plus

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Requirements


  • Good personal hygiene and adherence to local, state, and federal health codes and standards

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Constant focus and concentration required to ensure a quality product is produced, as well as to ensure the safety of all team members is maintained from potentially hazardous conditions
