The Impact You'll Make in this Role
- Leading and overseeing all operations associated with 3M wastewater and water quality systems, ensuring activities are performed safely, compliantly, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards. Providing direct leadership to employees through effective supervision, training, and performance support. Promoting a culture of safety, accountability, employee engagement, and operational excellence while maintaining focus on environmental quality, cost control, morale, and productivity. Coordinating with maintenance, engineering and other departments to ensure reliable system performance, timely resolution of operational issues, and sustained compliance with applicable requirements, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Promoting a safe and sustainable working environment through modeling safe behaviors as well as recognizing and resolving safety related problems. Actively lead incident investigations, including presenting incident resolutions to site leadership.
- Cultivating and leading a team by encouraging and implementing cross training activities, cooperation, innovation, flexibility, and teamwork. Scheduling work priorities consistent with engineering directives, coordinating maintenance activities, allocating work assignments, communicating expectations and monitoring workflow. Providing coaching and feedback to employees and utilizing corrective action to resolve conflict and inappropriate behaviors.
- Implementing advanced working knowledge and interpretation of corporate and site policies and procedures. Ensuring shift administrative activities such as time reporting, attendance control, vacation planning, overtime, etc. are properly implemented and documented.
- Representing plant leadership team through supporting initiatives across the plant, including but not limited to supervision coverage for alternative shifts and supporting 24/7 production through flexible work schedules when required.
Your Skills and Expertise
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of two (2) years of combined experience working in a manufacturing or production environment in a private, public, government or military setting.
- High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of four (4) years of combined experience working in a water treatment facility a private, public, government or military setting.
- Wastewater license
- Leadership experience in a union environment.
- Experience in one or more of the following: project leadership, team leadership, supervisory, and/or management.
- Self-directed and detail oriented.
- Good interpersonal, communication, prioritization, organizational skills, and computer skills.
- Create, lead and work in a team atmosphere.
- Communicate written and verbally clearly and concisely and influence changes with operators as well as other plant employees and management team members.
- Identification and resolution of process issues.
- Use of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) to provide impact through cost reduction programs, quality improvements, and safety of work environments.
