Position Summary
Supervises and leads teams of employees in tasks related to the efficient production of STERIS, St. Louis Operations products. Responsible for executing work schedules and ensuring safety, productivity, and quality in the work area, as well as supporting the Lean objectives of the department. Operations supervised may include processing, packaging, repackaging, shipping, receiving, or as assigned.
What You'll Do as a Manufacturing Supervisor
- Coordinate and manage logistics and on-time delivery of materials to support production schedules.
- Maintain a safe working environment by implementing safety initiatives, instructing employees, and enforcing safety practices.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and properly maintained.
- Monitor production quality to meet company standards and comply with SOPs, DOT, FDA, ISO, and cGMP requirements.
- Requisition supplies timely to meet production needs based on Kanban and J.I.T objectives.
- Meet production cost standards for labor and yield, and report related data.
- Supervise operators, participate in Gemba walks, and maintain control and communication boards.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment, including operator training and TPM practices.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, ensuring safety and accessibility.
- Ensure finished products and emergency equipment are accessible and unobstructed.
- Foster good relations and open communication with employees, maintaining productivity and attendance standards.
- Achieve 5S objectives within the area of responsibility.
- Support Lean initiatives and participate in related activities to meet business goals.
The Experience, Skills And Abilities Needed
- 3+ years in production or logistics, with supervisory experience or equivalent; knowledge of DOT regulations preferred, with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years in production or logistics, with supervisory experience or equivalent; knowledge of DOT regulations required if no degree.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and related tools.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; sound judgment; self-starter; analytical skills; PC proficiency including Excel and PRISM; understanding of GMPs.
- Ability to maintain high-quality production within cost standards, manage expenses, and support customer service, inventory, and scheduling goals.
