Job summary

Lyte Fiber, LLC seeks an experienced Locate Supervisor to lead a team of locators, coordinate underground utility markings, and ensure safe, on-time completion of locate requests before construction begins.

The role requires supervisory experience, strong GIS/CADD proficiency, and excellent communication skills for coordination with utility stakeholders across Texas. Houston-based leader will oversee field crews and training initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management; relevant technical certifications or associate degree in construction management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years of supervisory and in field experience locating underground facilities or infrastructure.
  • Strong computer skills, with emphasis using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
  • Familiarity with mapping, GIS and CADD drafting programs.
  • Ability to Work with Google Earth KMZs and KMLs.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Position Description:Lyte Fiber, LLC (“Lyte”) is seeking an experienced telecommunications operations leader to fill the role of Locate Supervisor. Lyte is a private equity backed fiber broadband start-up with ambitious plans to scale and expand its FTTH, SMB and MDU business lines across multiple regions. The Locate Supervisor will be joining an experienced team that brings decades of fiber broadband, infrastructure and technology experience with a proven track record of building and growing highly successful businesses.The Locate Supervisor will have several years of experience in utility locating or a related field, with some supervisory or lead experience. The Locate Supervisor is responsible for developing a team of locators that identify and mark Lyte Fiber’s underground utilities to prevent damage during excavation projects. This role involves the oversight and coordination of the work of the locators, ensuring accurate and timely completion of locate requests before construction activities begin. The supervisor will also be responsible for performing locate requests as needed and responsible for investigating all damage to Lyte Fiber’s utilities. The position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee full-time employees. This individual should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced environment committed to ensuring that Lyte provides exceptional experience to both the communities we work in and the service we provide to a rapidly growing customer base.Duties and Responsibilities:Achieve Lyte Fiber’s annual construction goals for passings built on time and on budget.Assist in developing and implementing training programs to ensure team members are skilled and knowledgeable to ensure Lyte’s quality standards are met and maintained.Be proficient with the State’s 811 locate system including the county and city utility ticketing systems.Conduct quality control and routine audits to ensure the team’s locates are accurate.Recommend and implement damage prevention procedures and systems to ensure Lyte Fiber’s plant is free of any potential hazards or disruptions.Ensure compliance with all locate ticket requests within the designated timeframes for both standard and emergency locatesDeveloping reports on locate response times and the accuracy of locates performed, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.Ensure all utility locates comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and community and company policies.Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of network reliability and performance.Ensure Lyte Fiber’s locates and emergency/on-call locates complete during regular, after and holiday hours as necessary to meet customer needs.Investigate and document damages to underground infrastructure, determining responsibility and coordinating with leadership for claims.Develop relationships with other utility stakeholders in the market.Lead and supervise all aspects of the market, including but not limited to: hiring, coaching, counseling, developing, creating positive teamwork and ensuring a rewarding work environment.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
