Job summary

Lyte Fiber in Houston, TX is seeking a mid-level Financial Operations professional to support GAAP-based accounting, FP&A, and reporting under the VP of Financial Operations. You will build financial models, assist with month-end close, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and dashboarding in NetSuite and Excel, partnering with Operations and Network teams to optimize costs and ROI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of accounting, financial planning and analysis, or other relevant professional experience.
  • Preferred: CPA or CFA credential.
  • Telecommunications, ISP, or fiber industry experience (nice to have).

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure transactions align with GAAP and Lyte Fiber's accounting policies.
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury functions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and dashboards.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.

Job description

Position Description:Support Lyte Fiber's Financial Operations function with strong accounting, financial planning, and analytical rigor to help meet strategic and operational goals as outlined by the VP of Financial Operations and Senior Leadership.This is a mid-level position that functions under general supervision, with growing independence in area of responsibility.Applies working knowledge of GAAP and the Company's accounting and financial policies with minimal guidance.Manages assigned workstreams independently, escalating complex or ambiguous issues appropriately.Beginning to identify process improvements within area of responsibility.Duties and Responsibilities:Improve and enhance daily operational procedures, tasks, and controls.Analyze complex, challenging problems and situations leading to optimal solutions.Resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.Maintain consistent methodologies, maintain accuracy, identify discrepancies, and move easily between detail and conceptual levels.Accounting (35%):Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and Lyte Fiber's accounting policies, including fiber-specific capitalization and cost treatment.Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury functions as assigned.Support compliance with the Company's operating and financial controls.Ensure business cases and capital requests are compiled accurately and evaluated against the Company's ROI and payback requirements.Monitor budget compliance through ongoing review of leading indicators for unapproved spend.Assist with audit requests and supporting schedules for the Company's external auditors and PE sponsor reporting.Financial Planning & Analysis (25%):Support the annual budgeting process and multi-year long-range plan.Build and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance, capital projects, and market expansion opportunities.Partner with Operations, Construction, and Network teams to analyze cost-per-passing, cost-per-connection, and other fiber-build economics.Perform variance analysis comparing actuals to budget/forecast, identifying drivers and recommending corrective action.Forecasting (10%):Compile rolling forecasts alongside department and project leads through monthly review of actuals and forward-looking assumptions.Document the business drivers behind variances and communicate material changes to leadership.Reporting & Dashboarding (15%):Publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports providing visibility into budget, forecast, and long-range plan performance.Assist in developing and maintaining dashboards (NetSuite and other tools) that provide insight into operating and financial performance.Support Financial Operations' ability to produce ad hoc reports and analysis.Systems & Process Improvement (10%):Develop working knowledge of NetSuite and other financial planning, reporting, and analysis systems used by the Company.Support the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of accounting and FP&A processes and controls.Identify opportunities to use automation and AI tools to increase the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.Team Dynamics (5%):Support a proactive, collaborative team environment that fosters productive, informed decision-making.Actively seek opportunities to coach and train others to further the education and development of Financial Operations across the Company.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
