Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily operations in the laboratory section, ensuring efficient performance of procedures and tests used for diagnosis and treatment. The role includes maintaining analyzers, quality control, specimen collection, and supply management in line with policy and standards.

The supervisor will provide recommendations and action plans to improve system processes within the section, and may require leadership in a busy acute-care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required.
• Other bachelor's degrees will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school and science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required.
• AAB/ASCP/AMT certification path may apply for waived degree requirements for pre-bachelor's certified technologists.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirements by ASCP and a HEW/HSS technologist certified by Health and Human Services.

Work Experience

• 3 years of clinical experience preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required
• Previous supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
