Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily operations in the clinical laboratory. You will supervise technicians, ensure analyzer maintenance, manage quality control, and uphold specimen collection protocols in alignment with established policies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field, ASCP or equivalent certification eligibility, and about 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in acute care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required
• Other bachelor's degrees will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school and science and math coursework meet the requirement of certifying agency. Bachelor's degree may be waived for certain certified technologists.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of daily laboratory operations and area under supervision.
• Oversee maintenance of analyzers and quality control practices.
• Ensure proper collection of specimens and maintenance of supplies per standards and procedures.
• Provide recommendations and action plans to improve system processes in the section or area.

Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirements by ASCP and a HEW/HSS technologist certified by Health and Human Services.

Work Experience

• 3 years of clinical experience preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required
• Previous supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
