Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the laboratory section and ensure accurate, timely test performance for diagnosis and treatment.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field, ASCP certification, and several years of clinical experience with supervisory responsibilities in an acute care setting. Strong leadership, maintenance of analyzers, quality control, and policy adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or closely related field is required.
• Other bachelor's degrees accepted if qualifying coursework meets certifying agency requirements.
• ASCP certification pathway accepted for those certified before degree requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the laboratory section/area.
• Supervise procedures and tests as ordered for diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure maintenance of analyzers and quality control.
• Oversee collection of specimens and maintaining of supplies per standards.
• Provide recommendations and action plans to improve system processes.

The supervisor will provide recommendations and action plans for the improvement of system processes in their section and/or area.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required
• Other bachelor's degrees will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school and science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency. Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirements by ASCP and a HEW/HSS technologist certified by Health and Human Services.

Work Experience

• 3 years of clinical experience preferably in an acute care hospital setting. Required
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for Required
• Previous supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Management of Clinical Laboratory only: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) . AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
