Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily staffing, provide training and mentoring, and ensure service quality in a healthcare setting. This role supports internal staff and external customers while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Education includes a Bachelor’s degree with BLS certification due within 30 days of hire; 1 year experience preferred and ASCP/AMT is a plus. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• ASCP or AMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
• Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
• Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
• Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.
• Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
• Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
• Lead the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Bachelor's degree required
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 30 days of hire
• Experience: One year of experience preferred.
• Licenses: ASCP or AMT Preferred
• Required Skills: Familiarity with organization and functions of each hospital department Leadership ability, integrity, and initiative required. Ability to solve problems effectively and handle stress in a positive manner. Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration, and all hospital department.
