Job description

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology handles laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for diagnosis and health maintenance. The division uses advanced computer technology and maintains state-of-the-art automated equipment across multiple sites, including hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians' offices.

This position oversees daily shift operations, staff supervision, scheduling, material management (including blood inventory), and quality review in compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include:

1. Evaluating and assigning technical work daily
2. Performing technical or clerical tasks as needed
3. Conducting quality control on tests, reagents, and equipment
4. Managing personnel scheduling and payroll (if using Kronos)
5. Training staff and residents
6. Ensuring accurate and timely work completion
7. Conducting annual competency assessments and performance evaluations
8. Monitoring blood inventory, reagents, supplies, and placing orders as necessary

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's Degree required
• NY State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
• Four years of bench experience as a CLT for supervisor eligibility (with possible substitution of two years for a master’s degree)
• Understanding of massive transfusion protocols
• Experience with neonatal transfusion

This is a per diem position located at the Moses campus in the Blood Bank lab, with shifts depending on departmental needs.
