Job summary

Bellevue University is seeking a Lab Supervisor to oversee the Computer Lab and Math Lab on the Main Campus. You will lead Lab Attendants, schedule shifts, and ensure available resources for students, staff, and faculty.

The role requires strong customer service, VMware/virtualization experience, and the ability to coordinate IT operations in an academic setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associates Degree in PC Support or related field desired.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in assisting users in a computer lab setting.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Windows OS including Win7/Win8, and Mac OS including Mountain Lion/Yosemite.
• Experience with VMware and Zero Client Devices.
• Understanding of virtualization concepts.
• Experience with network printers and basic LAN environment.
• Excellent customer services skills with strong oral, written and interpersonal communication.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities; sound decision making.

Responsibilities

Job description

Primary Function:

Supervises and ensures the efficient operation of the computer lab and the math lab. This includes managing the Lab Attendant staff responsible for monitoring the use of the workstations in the Computer Lab and the Math Lab. This individual will also assist the Director, Technical Support Services and perform procedures under his direction necessary to ensure the availability of computer resources for students, staff, and faculty. The incumbent will operate under limited supervision based on broadly defined objectives and manages assigned staff to meet operational goals. This position requires direct contact with faculty, staff, and students at Bellevue University.

Essential Functions:

Manages University Main Campus Computer Lab and Math Lab

• Creates work schedules to ensure the Computer Lab is fully staffed during hours of operation.


• Hires and provides ongoing training and supervision to all Lab Attendants on the use of hardware and software installed in the Computer Lab.


• Develosp Standard Operating Procedures on the use of Computer Lab resources.


• Ensures all Lab Attendants are fully trained in securing the building prior to leaving for the evening.


• Maintains records of services and lab usage for assessment and planning.


• Maintains supplies for lab equipment (e.g., paper, printer toner) and maintain working order of lab equipment.


• Ensures all equipment including PCs, iPads, headphones, remote controls and software are well configured and available as requested for classrooms, the Computer Lab and the Math Lab, and accounted for after usage.


• Assists student and faculty users regarding the use of supported software applications and hardware.


• Coordinates and/or performs software installations, diagnostics, and repairs.


• Keeps current regarding current computer technology in order to make informed decisions regarding improvements in computer lab resources.


• Maintains instructional lab reservations for academic classes/training.

Special Projects

• Makes decisions regarding technical and physical changes to the lab.


• Promotes the services available in the lab to clientele.


• Periodically review of all policies, operational and administrative to assure that they are up to date and meet Bellevue University standards.

Qualifications:

• Excellent customer services skills with strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are required to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and students.


• Demonstrates a high degree of problem solving and troubleshooting skills and the ability to make sound and accurate decisions.
