McLaren Health Care is seeking an Imaging Service Supervisor who will oversee day-to-day operations of the assigned imaging section(s) to ensure efficient testing and compliance with system and regulatory standards.

You will lead training, scheduling, and staffing decisions, act as a technical resource for the team, and contribute to policy development while supporting business and service quality objectives.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in healthcare administration or business administration.
  • Four years of experience in related discipline.
  • Registry in imaging discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or business administration (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the assigned imaging section(s).
  • Plans daily work schedule and assignments; supports manager in scheduling.
  • Takes initiative to assume departmental responsibilities daily when scheduled or in staffing shortages.
  • Monitors testing efficiency and compliance with standards; tracks turnaround times and inventories.
  • Develops, trains and evaluates imaging staff; participates in hiring.
  • Suggests improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Job description

The McLaren system includes 12 hospitals across the state, ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, a 730-member employed primary and specialty care physician network, commercial and Medicaid HMOs covering more than 242,000 Michigan lives, home health, infusion and hospice providers, pharmacy services, a clinical laboratory network, and a wholly owned medical malpractice insurance company. McLaren operates Michigan’s largest network of cancer centers and providers, anchored by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. McLaren has 20,000 full-, part-time and contracted employees and more than 93,000 network providers throughout Michigan.

Position Summary:

Supervises technical and non-technical activities of the assigned clinical imaging service section(s) ensuring testing operates efficiently and effectively and complies with all system and regulatory agency standards. Provides input into the development of department policies and procedures. Ensures imaging services personnel maintain current knowledge of imaging techniques, procedures and equipment operation. Assists in meeting the business, financial, customer, service quality and regulatory requirements of the department. Serves as a technical resource for department personnel.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the assigned imaging section(s).

2. Plans daily work schedule and assignments ensuring that work is done and reported promptly and accurately.Supports manager in preparing schedules and arranging coverage.

3. Takes initiative to assume departmental responsibilities daily, when scheduled or in the case of staffing shortages.

4. Ensures testing operates efficiently and effectively, in accordance with all system and regulatory agency standards, by monitoring department turnaround times; investigating and implementing corrective action; monitoring inventory and ordering supplies.

  • Complies with preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Serves as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
  • Ensures the attainment of objectives through developing, training and evaluating imaging staff; participates in hiring process.

8. Makes suggestions to manager for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems.

9. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Associate degree in healthcare administration or business administration.
  • Four years of experience in related discipline.
  • Registry in imaging discipline.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or business administration.
