You will guide day-to-day operations, remove barriers so your team can do their best work, and help build a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

At Phillips 66, Lead Forward is our leadership approach. It defines how leaders show up, make decisions, and support their teams while delivering results in a complex, fast-changing environment. Leaders at this level focus on setting clear direction, building trust, and helping their teams succeed. You’re expected to act with integrity, make timely and thoughtful decisions, and take ownership of outcomes while supporting collaboration across teams. This role is about leading people well, even when priorities change or the path forward isn’t always clear.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a team of shift operations employees to safely meet daily and monthly volume, quality, and cost targets, setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and following through on commitments to build trust.
  • Own the performance of your shift by monitoring key performance indicators, responding quickly to issues, and holding yourself and the team accountable for meeting production, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Build a cohesive, inclusive team by coaching operators, providing regular performance and development feedback, and ensuring everyone understands their roles, standard work, and how their work connects to site goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of production equipment and systems, including start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, and new product trials, adjusting processes to optimize reliability, throughput, and product quality.
  • Coordinate work scheduling, material and resource planning, and maintenance activities for your shift to keep the line running efficiently, using data to make sound, timely decisions and knowing when to elevate issues.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by applying safe work practices, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements, and stopping or adjusting work when conditions are unsafe or unclear.
  • Partner across shifts and functions to remove barriers, share information, and implement standard work and continuous improvement ideas that enhance equipment uptime and reduce waste.
  • Lead the team through change, such as new procedures, equipment, or production plans, by providing clarity, remaining calm under pressure, and helping employees adapt while maintaining performance.
  • Support troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and equipment rebuilds by coordinating with maintenance and technical experts and ensuring clear communication and documentation of issues and resolutions.
What You’ll Bring – Required
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 or more years of relevant working experience in operations, production, manufacturing, or related roles

    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional on-call duties
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high‑speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
  • Experience in refining, petrochemical, or energy manufacturing environments
  • 1 or more years of experience supervising employees or leading a team, including directing daily work and managing performance
  • 5 or more years of production or manufacturing operations experience
  • Proven success leading shift teams to meet or exceed safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets in a high hazard or highly regulated environment
