California Department of Developmental Services seeks a Supervisor I for Porterville Developmental Center in Tulare County. This in-person leadership role coordinates a large training department, planning and evaluating staff education to meet departmental priorities.
The position requires California residency at appointment, passing the Supervisor I examination, and a background/medical clearance. There is no telework; duties include ensuring training meets state standards and inspections.
The Supervisor I is responsible for a large and complex training department. He/She has the responsibility for coordinating employee professional education and planning education activities for all Developmental Center staff. The Supervisor I coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of the facility's training programs. The Supervisor coordinates facility training priorities and goals with Departmental training priorities. He/She also ensures that the facility training meets or exceeds the minimum requirements set by the Department of Developmental Services, Licensing, Accreditation and Certification.
This position is not eligible for telework, this position is in person only.
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. This recruitment may be utilized to fill future vacancies that may occur during the life of the certification list.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Ongoing interaction with clients, personnel and the general public. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment.
