Job summary

Child Guidance Resource Centers seeks a Family Based Supervisor to provide administrative and clinical leadership of the family services program. The role oversees supervision of staff, ensures clinical integration, and maintains program budgets and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a mental health field including clinical training and practicum.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in child and family mental health with supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Broad clinical practice in family, child, behavior, individual, or crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, directs, coordinates, and supervises the delivery of program related services to children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Provides leadership in developing and maintaining innovative delivery of program services.
  • Verifies clinical competence through staff orientation, training and performance management.
  • Intervenes to provide immediate assistance in crisis situations.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for program services and educates the organization.
  • Ensures completion of documentation within CGRC procedures.
  • Oversees productivity and maintains referrals to the Department.
  • Collaborates to develop cost effective program budgets.
  • Supports recruitment and retention and staffing for assigned services.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources on employee relations and compliance.
  • Participates in supervision, meetings, committees and special projects.
  • Maintains billable hour expectations.

Job description

The Family Based Supervisor provides administrative and clinical leadership of the program and is responsible for supervision and instruction relative to the treatment services delivered by the program staff. The Clinical Supervisor ensures administrative and clinical integration, coordination, and collaboration of the program services into the overall functioning of the organization.

  • Designs, directs, coordinates, and supervises the delivery of program related services to children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Provides expertise and leadership in developing and maintaining innovative and effective delivery of program services.
  • Verifies current and ongoing clinical competence of all program staff by ensuring the implementation of staff orientation, training and effective performance management.
  • Intervenes to provide immediate assistance in crisis situations.
  • Develops and implements all policies and procedures related to the provision of program services and takes responsibility to educate the organization.
  • Ensures completion of all documentation requirements within determined time frames consistent with CGRC procedures.
  • Oversees productivity requirements of the department and market to ensure consistent referrals to the Department.
  • Collaborates with supervisor to develop cost effective and accurate program budgets for all assigned services.
  • Supports recruitment and retention strategies within the department and ensures appropriate staffing for assigned services consistent with client needs.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources to address employee relations issues and employee compliance matters.
  • Active participation in supervision, team meetings, committees, work groups and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains billable hour expectations.
  • Required Education and Experience
  • Graduate degree in a mental health field, which includes a clinical training and clinical practicum;
  • Minimum three (3) years experience working in a child and family mental health, education, child welfare, or juvenile justice system with at least two of these being in a supervisory or managerial position.
  • Broad clinical practice experience in family, child, behavior, individual, or couple therapy, or crisis intervention / stabilization.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of DSM 5, community resources, BHRS and case management service regulations, Children and Youth Services, Juvenile Justice Services, special education, the 302 process, and abuse/neglect report procedures.

This job generally operates in a professional office environment but may require on-site training observation of staff in client homes, schools, or community settings and attend off-site meetings/trainings as needed. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, scanners and photocopiers. Possible exposure to under-resourced homes, including homes without heat or air conditioning, and/or those located in geographical areas characterized by high crime rates.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and hear sufficiently to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes. The employee’s vision must be adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. The position requires good manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position working a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including occasional evenings and 24 hour emergency on-call including weekends as necessary.

Travel

May require regular travel to other CGRC sites, schools, client homes, or community settings for meetings/trainings, staff observations, or clinical support of staff.
