Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an Environmental Services Supervisor to supervise and coordinate staff and daily operations of the Environmental Services Department. You will implement policies and procedures related to Environmental Sanitation.

You will lead, train, and evaluate team members, prioritize work, and monitor supplies and inventory while ensuring safety guidelines and MSDS references are followed.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree is required, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership/management experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Promotes department goals by training and motivating team members.
• Leads Environmental Services team by providing guidance toward objectives.
• Hires, trains, disciplines, and evaluates staff; ensures timely performance appraisals.
• Schedules, prioritizes, and monitors work to optimize operations.
• Analyzes, recommends, and monitors approved workflow changes.
• Addresses special assignments from management as needed.
• Ensures adequate inventory of supplies.
• Oversees stock levels and coordinates weekly pick-ups from main storage.
• Evaluates related products and equipment.
• Provides safety instruction related to products, equipment, and MSDS.
• Addresses needs of hearing impaired and physically challenged staff.
• Performs other duties as required; all essential functions under ADA.

Supervises and coordinates the staff and daily operations of the Environmental Services Department. Implements established policies and procedures as they pertain to Environmental Sanitation.

Job Responsibility

• Promotes Environment Services department goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable team members.
• Leads the activities of assigned Environmental Services team members by communicating and providing guidance toward achieving department objectives.
• Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
• Prioritizes, schedules, assigns, and monitors work to optimize operational service.
• Analyzes, recommends, implements, and monitors approved work-flow changes.
• Receives special work assignments from management, as needed.
• Ensures adequate inventory of supplies.
• Oversees supply maintenance; reviews stock levels in storage area as to established par levels; requests and picks-up needed supplies weekly from main storage area.
• Evaluates and recommends related products and equipment.
• Provides safety instruction related to the use of products, equipment and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) references.
• Addresses the needs of special groups, hearing impaired, physically challenged and various issues relating to the hospital and facility.
