Briggs & Stratton in the United States seeks a Supervisor Engineering Technical Services to lead the engineering support team in testing, problem resolution, and data interpretation for batteries, inverters, and related products.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with customers and internal teams, supervise project activities from concept through post-launch, and ensure technical excellence in service and product development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of professional engineering experience.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical personnel.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with batteries and electrical backup equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and oversees engineering and technical support teams.
  • Completes and supervises complex technical support assignments related to test methods and data interpretation.
  • Provides technical support and recommendations from a call center environment.
  • Leads product-related activities with customers such as system commissioning.
  • Performs analysis of customer systems such as battery capacity testing.
  • Mentors staff and manages scheduling and performance.
  • Contributes to product development processes from concept through post-launch.

Supervisor Engineering Technical Services

Completes and supervises team in the performance of complex technical support assignments involving test methods, problem resolution, product application, product development and data interpretation using comprehensive product knowledge. Works with customers and the internal engineering team in the support of existing, modified and new products.

Job Responsibilities

Helps customers conduct standard tests and prepares technical reports to resolve customer concerns/problems

Modifies analysis techniques when necessary to solve complex problems

Provides technical support and recommendations from a call center environment

Originates and applies new and unique approaches to evaluate products such as batteries, inverters, and gateways

Adheres to new product development processes as it relates to Concept Analysis, Business Case, product development, pre-production and post launch steps

Provides methods of manufacturing during the design of new products,design modifications or process changes based on cost/design studies

Supervises and oversees the work of engineering and technical support teams

Leads product related activities with customers such as system commissioning and modifications to maintain external customer relationships

Performs analysis of customer systems such as battery capacity testing and power production analysis using existing methods/software

Compiles and analyzes complex test results, formulates conclusions, and makes appropriate recommendations and decisions

Performs one or more supervisory responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management.

Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements

Strong ability to convey an understanding verbally and in writing of technical concepts and issues to non-technical personnel internally and externally

Demonstrated ability to mentor and manage less experienced engineering support personnel

Expert knowledge of electrical backup equipment as relates to the area of responsibility (I edited this one directly)

Demonstrated general knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures

Comprehensive knowledge of batteries and related products/equipment

Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience Requirements

Minimum five years of professional engineering experience required

Five years of professional experience working closely with non-technical personnel in a technical environment

Prior Supervisory experience preferred
