Job summary

Bravus Mining and Resources’ Carmichael mine in Queensland seeks an experienced Drill & Blast Supervisor. Reporting to the Superintendent Drill & Blast, you will lead frontline crews to safely deliver drill, blast and mining enabling task targets while driving operational excellence and fostering a high-performance team culture.

This role operates on a 7/7 roster, offering an opportunity to balance work and life.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a large-scale mining operation
• Experience supervising heavy earthmoving equipment and drill & blast activities
• Current Mining Supervisor Qualifications (G1, G8, G9) and G2 Risk Management
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Current Standard 11 Queensland Coal Board Medical and Queensland Class C Driver Licence

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily drill & blast contractor activities to safely achieve production targets.
• Lead and supervise mining equipment operators for drill pattern prep, road works and expansion clearing.
• Optimise equipment utilisation, workforce deployment and operational efficiency.
• Monitor ancillary fleet performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage operational challenges, equipment downtime and site risks.
• Mentor and develop crews through effective leadership and coaching.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Prepare production, incident and shift reports and communicate with stakeholders.

Job description

Bravus Mining and Resources’ Carmichael mine is an open cut thermal coal mine in the North Galilee Basin, approximately 160 kilometres northwest of the town of Clermont.

Carmichael produces more than 12 million tonnes of thermal coal for the export market each year.

More than 1400 people are engaged in permanent roles at Carmichael and workers travel to site on direct flights from Townsville, Rockhampton, Cairns, or Mackay (a flight time of approximately 55 minutes). Those team members who live in the Isaac region have the option to drive-in and drive-out with individual travel and fatigue management plans in place.

About The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Drill & Blast, you will lead frontline crews to safely deliver drill, blast and mining enabling task targets while driving operational excellence and fostering a high-performance team culture.

This role operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off (7/7) roster, providing an excellent work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily drill & blast contractor activities to safely achieve production targets.
• Lead and supervise mining equipment operators to safely achieve mining support activities such as drill pattern preparations, road works, haul road delineation and mining expansion clearing/topsoil management.
• Optimise equipment utilisation, workforce deployment and operational efficiency.
• Monitor ancillary fleet performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage operational challenges, equipment downtime and emerging site risks.
• Build, mentor and develop high-performing crews through effective leadership and coaching.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Prepare accurate production, incident and shift reports while maintaining strong stakeholder communication.

About You

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar supervisory role within a large-scale mining operation (Or demonstrated capability)
• Experience supervising heavy earthmoving equipment and drill & blast mining activities
• Current Mining Supervisor Qualifications (G1, G8, G9) and G2 Risk Management certification.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, solve problems and drive operational performance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Current Standard 11, Queensland Coal Board Medical and Queensland Class C Driver Licence.
