Job summary

Green Bay Packaging is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead corrugator operations in our El Paso facility. You will plan, direct, and optimize daily manufacturing activities, drive safety, quality, and on-time delivery, and supervise hourly production staff.

You will analyze production data, coordinate with maintenance, and partner with quality and operations teams to implement continuous improvements and Lean/5S initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience required; corrugated packaging experience and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of corrugated manufacturing processes, strong leadership and communication skills, and data-driven problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate daily corrugator operations to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor machine performance, efficiency, downtime, and waste; ensure optimal use of labor and equipment.
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop hourly production staff; conduct evaluations and provide feedback.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment through compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and observations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Production Management
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate daily corrugator operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor machine performance, production efficiencies, downtime, and waste.
  • Ensure optimum utilization of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Coordinate production priorities and communicate expectations to team members.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications and company quality standards.
  • Monitor sheet quality, board performance, and production processes.
  • Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Quality and Operations teams to drive continuous improvement.
Leadership and Employee Development
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop hourly production employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Address attendance, performance, and disciplinary issues in accordance with company policies.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
Equipment and Maintenance Coordination
  • Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and preventive maintenance activities are completed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production and equipment issues.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment and process improvements.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, efficiency, and cost improvement.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S efforts.
  • Utilize data and key performance indicators to drive operational improvements.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Corrugated packaging industry experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of corrugated manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to analyze production data and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs and access production equipment as needed.

Directly supervises Corrugator Operators, Assistant Operators, Stacker Operators, and other assigned production personnel. Responsible for employee training, performance management, scheduling, coaching, and development.
