Job summary

CHI Health Clinic seeks a Supervisor, Coding to lead the Revenue Cycle coding team and oversee daily ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS coding operations, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance across the organization.

You will supervise, coach, and train coders and data-entry staff, perform quality reviews, and educate on coding policies and systems while coordinating with physicians and managers to optimize charge capture and reimbursement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 1 year experience in coding or 3 years in discipline without healthcare billing background.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certifications preferred.
  • Ability to manage staff, troubleshoot coding challenges, and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Supervisor, Coding, you will be a pivotal leader within our Revenue Cycle division, directly overseeing daily coding operations and ensuring the highest standards of timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency in the assignment of ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. This role is critical for maintaining compliance, optimizing reimbursement, and serving as a technical expert for complex coding and billing issues across our healthcare ministry.

As our Supervisor, Coding, you will be a pivotal leader within our Revenue Cycle division, directly overseeing daily coding operations and ensuring the highest standards of timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency in the assignment of ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. This role is critical for maintaining compliance, optimizing reimbursement, and serving as a technical expert for complex coding and billing issues across our healthcare ministry.

Every day you will supervise, coach, and train a dedicated team of coders and data entry specialists, fostering a positive work environment and addressing performance issues when needed. You'll conduct quality reviews, provide essential education and training on coding processes, policies, and systems, and resolve complex coding problems. Acting as a key liaison, you will coordinate with physicians, practice managers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues related to coding, billing, and documentation, contributing directly to coding compliance and charge capture optimization.

To be successful in this medical coding leadership role, you will need a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of experience in the discipline, or three years if without a prior healthcare billing background. Essential certifications such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) are required. Your ability to effectively manage staff, troubleshoot difficult coding challenges, and ensure adherence to all regulatory guidelines will be key to driving "coding excellence" and contributing to the financial health and operational integrity of our organization.
