Job summary

Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, MN, is seeking a Supervisor for the Central Utility Plant to lead operation, maintenance, and repairs of boilers, chillers, pumps, and hydronic systems. You will manage a technical team, schedule work, and ensure continuous 24/7 service with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5+ years in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial/industrial HVAC and central plant systems.
• 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• Advanced working knowledge of hydronic heating and cooling systems.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, chillers, pumps, filters, and piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals.
• Experience with BAS and HVAC controls.
• Knowledgeable in CMMS and preventive/predictive maintenance.

Description

The Supervisor, Central Utility Plant leads the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of the resort’s central plant and hydronic systems, while providing day-to-day leadership to assigned team members. The role coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to equipment failures and emergencies, and partners with Facilities leadership to keep critical systems operational and minimize disruptions across the 24/7 casino resort. • Supervises and directs the daily operation and maintenance of the casino resort’s central plant and hydronic systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, piping, valves, water treatment and filtration systems, and associated equipment.
• Leads, schedules, trains, and provides technical direction to assigned team members; establishes work priorities, monitors performance, and ensures work is completed safely, accurately, and timely.
• Monitors central plant equipment, building automation systems, and operating conditions to ensure reliable heating and cooling, appropriate system performance, and continuity of operations throughout the 24/7 facility.
• Oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance; troubleshoots complex equipment and system failures, identifies root causes, and coordinates repairs to minimize operational and guest impact.
• Conducts facility and equipment inspections, identifies deficiencies and emerging reliability concerns, and recommends corrective actions, equipment improvements, or repair/replacement strategies.
• Coordinates planned shutdowns, emergency response, contractor/vendor activities, equipment installations, and projects involving central plant and hydronic systems.
• Ensures work orders, maintenance records, inspections, equipment documentation, and required reporting are complete and accurate; maintains appropriate critical parts, materials, and supplies.
• Ensures compliance with applicable codes, regulatory requirements, safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and organizational procedures, including lockout/tagout and other safe-work practices.
• Partners with Facilities leadership and operational departments to address facility needs, communicate service impacts, and maintain reliable building operations with minimal disruption to guests and team members.
• Identifies and implements opportunities to improve system reliability, energy efficiency, maintenance practices, equipment performance, and operating costs.
• Utilizes data trends as part of a predictive maintenance plan and to detect system abnormalities.
• Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System to document all work
• Ensures appropriate staffing and 24-7 coverage of plant.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial or industrial HVAC, hydronic, boiler, chiller, or central utility plant systems
• 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity
• Advanced working knowledge of commercial/industrial hydronic heating and cooling systems.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, valves, piping systems, and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping diagrams, equipment specifications, operating manuals, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and central plant sequencing.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance principles and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Understanding of applicable occupational safety requirements and safe work practices.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate work in a large, complex facility operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• Ability to respond effectively to equipment failures and operational emergencies while maintaining sound judgment under pressure.
• Knowledgeable in the use of a Building Automation System (Niagara N4 preferrable)
• Valid driver’s license.
• 2-C Boilers License preferred.
• Refrigeration, controls, or related technical certification preferred.
• OSHA, lockout/tagout, or other applicable safety training preferred
