Responsibilities

  • Practices solid verbal and written communication skills, articulates and translates to other care providers and negotiates recommendations for changes in unit practices.

  • Demonstrates critical thinking in clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues.

  • Assists in reduction of surgical instrument errors and implements streamlined same-day turnaround for instrument processing.

  • Plan for growth-oriented and developmental activities; coordinates educational opportunities for staff development.
  • Mentors others and shares expertise within the healthcare team; supports ancillary departments and task forces.
  • Collaborates with management to ensure quality of Central Sterile Processing and adherence to standards.
  • Serves as a role model of excellent customer service; responds to needs of patients and staff daily.
  • Supports departmental goals of quality service and cost containment by implementing changes.
  • Ensures a qualified workgroup by coaching, scheduling, and developing Central Sterile Processing employees.
  • Prep and maintain staff annual evaluations; sterilize and process equipment per standards; coordinate instrumentation ordering with OR; update instrument tracking sheets; streamline instrument sets.

Job description

Coordinates the daily operations of the department functions and assures instrument and equipment processing including; cleaning and decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution to the patient care givers. Supervises employees and serves the customer as a resource to service problems and/or questions.

Eligible candidates will be offered a sign-on bonus of $5,000

Responsibilities:

Creates a caring and compassionate patient focused experience by building healing relationships with colleagues. Disseminates new knowledge and innovations through presentations, posters, and publications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement tools and techniques. Continuously improves the quality of care and the work environment of outcomes and the integration of research and best practices into daily work. Shares learning from improvements with other units and/or spreads across the business unit or system.Assists in the reduction rate of surgical instrument errors and collaborates with department leadership to institute a streamlined same-day turnaround for instrument processing.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling uplifting and positive communication. Coaches colleagues on cultural diversity and addresses workplace horizontal violence and impairment. Demonstrates accountability to self and others for safe work hours, time management and healthy lifestyles.
  • Plan for and complete growth oriented and developmental activities.
  • Coordinate educational opportunities, both internal and external, to facilitate staff acquisition of knowledge and credits necessary to maintain any employee certifications.

  • Collaborate with the manager ensuring quality of care of the Central Sterile Processing by implementing, communicating, and/or developing philosophies of standards of care; enforcing adherence to organization, departmental or outside, regulatory body requirements.
  • Serve as a role model of excellent customer service by responding constructively to the needs of all those interacted with on a daily basis.
  • Support the departmental goals of quality service, system improvement, and cost containment by contributing to the successful implementation of recommended departmental changes.
  • Ensure a fully qualified and competent workgroup by coaching, scheduling, motivating, and assisting in the development of the employees in Central Sterile Processing.
  • Participate in preparation of staff annual evaluation documents.
  • Sterilize and process equipment/instruments by adhering to departmental standards, professional regulations, and policies and procedures.Assumes shared responsibility and coordination of all ordering of instrumentation in collaboration with the Operating Room, updating of all count sheets within the instrument tracking system, ensures that instrumentation sets missing critical components are returned to circulation in a timely fashion. Serves as a resource for the instrument tracking system. Assists in the coordination of streamlining and consolidation of instrumentation sets to improve the throughout performance of Sterile Reprocessing.Remains highly accessible and visible for proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving across the OR and Sterile Processing Department.
