Job summary

New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking a Supervisor Carpenter to oversee carpentry teams and ensure timely completion of city projects. The role includes supervising staff, conducting field inspections, and coordinating court cases, violations, routine work tickets, fire-related jobs and move-outs on a citywide scale.

Minimum qualifications require seven years in carpentry with at least two years in supervisory duties or an equivalent combination.

Selective candidate may travel Citywide on various initiatives.

NOTE: The Department of Citywide Administrative Services held a filing period for promotional civil service Exam 6544 for the title of Supervisor Carpenter that closed on June 23, 2026. Therefore, applicants (candidates) that did not take and pass the exam will potentially not be considered; likewise, applicants not reachable on the established civil service list will potentially be in jeopardy of being replaced with an eligible civil service candidate.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven (7) years of recent, satisfactory, full time, paid experience as a carpenter, at least two (2) years of which must have been spent in duties of a supervisory nature; or
  • A satisfactory equivalent.
