Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited program, or equivalent coursework.
  • Experience: at least 1 year in a medical facility as a medical assistant or externship in a medical office.
  • Gastroenterology experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily guidance and direction to the medical assistant team.
  • Serve as first point of contact for employee issues and disputes.
  • Approve time off requests and maintain staffing during peaks.
  • Deliver feedback, coaching, and counseling to staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and share results with employees.
  • Coordinate with management on patient flow and schedules.
  • Oversee clerical duties: records, referrals, forms, and scheduling.
  • Support patient rights and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Train and mentor medical assistants; cover shifts during absences.

Job Shift: Day

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Back Office Supervisor.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide daily guidance and direction to team
  • Serve as first response for employee issues/disputes
  • Approve time off requests, ensuring adequate staffing during peak times
  • Provide employee feedback, coaching, and counseling
  • Conduct annual employee performance reviews and deliver reviews to employees
  • Attend management meetings, when requested
  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; checking vital signs; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting providers as needed; charting; phone triage; medication administration; relaying instructions to patients/families; answer calls, and providing pertinent information; prescription verifications with physicians orders.
  • Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; patient check-in and check-out; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
  • Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the medical assistant team, including scheduling, training and any necessary performance discussions.
  • Train medical assistants and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship
  • Cover clinical shifts or reassign duties in response to unexpected absences
  • Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
