Job summary

American Airlines in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Supervisor, Aircraft Base Maintenance to lead a team of crew chiefs and mechanics, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient maintenance operations.

You will manage daily production, coordinate with Training for skill development, deploy manpower as needed, and maintain clear communication with Maintenance, Engineering and Facilities teams. This role requires an FAA A&P certificate and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.
  • Must pass FAA criminal background checks for SIDA access (if applicable).
  • Must secure airport authority and/or US Customs security badges (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Leads by example, coaching team members to success.
  • Manages daily production requirements through subordinates.
  • Ensures procedures are followed for efficiency, safety and compliance.
  • Coordinates with Maintenance Training to enhance staff skills.
  • Convenes regular reviews and board meetings for action items.
  • Oversees manpower scheduling and overtime alignment with program priorities.
  • Keeps open communication between Maintenance, Engineering and Facilities.
  • Aligns the team with key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Deploys manpower and meets shift production needs.

  • This job is a member of the Base Maintenance Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • Responsible for supervising a team of Crew Chiefs and mechanics as a key member of the dynamic and fast-paced American Airlines Maintenance organization.
What you'll do
  • Leads by example, coaches our team members to success and builds trustworthy relationships
  • Manages the daily Production requirements through subordinates
  • Ensures team members are following procedures in order to ensure maximum efficiency, compliance and safety
  • Leads staff to ensure team member's skills are utilized to the highest degree possible; leads coordination with Maintenance Training to ensure on-going enhancement of staff and skill set
  • Conducts regular meetings with Business Reviews and Boardwalks to ensure best possible communication, identification, and resolution of action items
  • Monitors the coordination of maintenance manpower requirements overtime and consistency with program scheduling and priorities
  • Maintains effective communication between Maintenance, Engineering, Facilities Maintenance and other Supply Chain groups
  • Ensures team members know, understand and are engaged in achieving critical Metrics and key performance indicators
  • Executes manpower deployment and shift production requirements

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate
  • Must pass FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 1 year leadership experience supervising production operation in an area related to heavy/shop maintenance
  • Experience supervising and/or leading workgroups

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • A&P License
  • Strong working knowledge of the GPM and SPPM
  • Understanding of Airline/Technical operations
  • Knowledge of audit requirementsKnowledge of labor reporting and crew utilization
  • Strong interpersonal and PC skills
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple areas of responsibility.
  • Excellent analytical, organization and planning skills
  • Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of team members
