Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama seeks an Administrative Supervisor to oversee operations in the Rheumatology/Allergy-Immunology Division. You will determine staffing needs, create job descriptions, and supervise support staff, including hiring, training, motivation, and counseling.

You will also liaise between Clinical Operations and Pediatric Administration, providing support to providers for clinical activities and patient services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree may substitute for up to three years of experience.
• Five years of progressively responsible clerical/administrative support experience.
• Preferred: two years of supervisory experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
• Prior UAB/HSF experience preferred but not required.

Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the collaborative efforts and smooth operations within the Rheumatology/ Allergy-Immunology Division. This includes but is not limited to determining staffing needs and creating job descriptions for support staff; direct supervision of support staff, including hiring, training, motivation, counseling and occasionally termination; functioning as a liaison between COA Clinical Operations and Pediatric Administration. Provide support to the providers as it relates to clinical activities or services to the patients and their families.

Qualifications

Position requires a high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressively responsible clerical and administrative support experience. A college degree or directly related discipline or field of study may substitute for up to three years of the experience requirement. Preferred: Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Needs to be proficient with Microsoft Office software. Working knowledge of medical terminology is helpful. Prior UAB/HSF experience is preferred but not required.
