Job summary

Magna International, Inc. in Michigan seeks a Manufacturing Leader for the Assembly & Sequencing Department within Magna Exteriors. You will lead a high-volume team, coordinate facilities, and drive production efficiency in a dynamic automotive environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and extensive experience in manufacturing management, with knowledge of TS-16949, OSHA regulations, and ERP/MIS. You will train team leaders, manage staffing, and pursue continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive manufacturing management experience in a high-volume environment.
  • Familiarity with TS-16949, OSHA regulations and related quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate assembly facilities, equipment, materials and staffing to meet performance objectives.
  • Train team leaders and members to develop teamwork in a positive environment.
  • Lead assembly activities with strong communication and direction to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
  • Track time sheets and attendance and ensure timely performance reviews.
  • Coordinate staffing needs and resolve personnel issues promptly.
  • Develop ergonomic layouts to optimize processes and reduce non-value-added activities.
  • Ensure compliance with TS-16949 and related work guidelines on the floor.
  • Participate in APQP and develop control plans and work instructions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
  • Fill in as Team Leader when needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Group Summary:

The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets. Job Responsibilities:

Participate in daily team meetings and offer ideas/suggestions that contribute to meeting the performance objectives for the Assembly & Sequencing Department (See attached list of Performance Objectives).

  • Coordinate the utilization of assembly facilities, equipment, materials and employees to meet departmental performance objectives.
  • Train team leaders and team members in developing team work skills and team oriented activities in a positive working environment.
  • Manage assembly activities through strong leadership, communication, motivation and direction of employees to ensure product quality and delivery.
  • Track time sheets, attendance records and ensure that all performance reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate staffing needs and ensure that all personnel issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement ergonomic production layouts to optimize process flows and eliminate non-value added activities through the principles of synchronous manufacturing.
  • Ensure strict compliance to all TS-16949 procedures and monitor development and compliance of all work guidances on the floor.
  • Participate in the advanced product quality planning activities for the development of control plans and work guidances.
  • Guide departmental continuous improvement activities and participate as requested.
  • Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.
  • Fill-in for and perform Team Leader duties when Team Leader is filling in for production team members on the production floor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business field of study. Twelve years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.
  • Implementation knowledge of OSHA industry health and safety regulations.
  • Operational knowledge of management information systems, use of personal computers and application software.
Related Work Experience
  • Extensive manufacturing management experience in a high volume, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, problem solving and people skills.
Physical Requirements

This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work whilestanding or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours a day, the ability to lift up to15 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis, and the ability to perform work that is below the knees and above theshoulders on an occasional basis. Ability to climb stairs is necessary. Good vision at a close distance is required. (See attached sheets for detailed physical description of this position.)

  • You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with MEHP business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and MEHP business operations.
